National Diabetes Register and the Risk factors of the development of the diabetes, RZZZ (State Institute for Healthcare protection)

The National Diabetes Register (NDR) in Republic of Macedonia includes updated records for over 20.000 patients. The solution initially was designed and implemented by GORD Systems in 1999 as a Client/Server solution. The new version of the solution is based on modern Web technology, offers more features and gives possibility for easy designing and implementing new researches and examinations, statistical data analyses and reporting.

Starting 2005, the State Institute for Healthcare Protection (RZZZ) initiated several new researches based on the NDR database, as well as few new examinations, focused on the adult population.

The aim of this project is to allocate the risk factors (of the development of the diabetes, a well as its influence on other diseases like cardiovascular, circular and cancer dieses) and the connections to the habits and the quality of life of the adult population (food consummation habits, physical activity, smoking, alcohol consummation, etc., and monitoring of the cost for the treatment. The project data will help to develop national strategy for prevention of chronically diseases

For the purpose of the project, GORD Systems developed a Web based solution that integrates the centralized National Diabetes Register and the new research projects. The users of the system allocated all over the country in 35 diabetes outpatient units and the RZZZ headquarter, access the system over the Internet. The solution enables the users to place relevant data about the selected target population groups, do data preparation, data analyses and reporting, or just access the results for reporting.

Data entry process is organized in adequate Web based forms, with build in data input controls and dependable logical relations between the data sets. Data analyses are performed with SPSS based tools, and the results are presented through web based reports.

There are four major groups of data sets:

  • The National Diabetes Register includes the data sets for the population with diabetes diseases, described through over 200 attributes. The data entry is divided in 5 major, logical data sets, compatible with the Euro Diabcare standard.
  • The Quality of Life data set includes various parameters on the life style habits (70 parameters, divided in 5 data set groups)
  • Direct economical costs data set, relevant for calculating the costs allocated to each patient with diabetes disease.
  • Food consummation habits data set –including anthropometrical measures for the registered diabetes patients and patient’s relatives.

The solution is secure e-Health solution, includes LDAP compatible ID Management system with support for data encryption, implementation of SSL Certificates, and personal smart cards.

Platform: Linux Enterprise Ed., Oracle DB, AJAX.

DIABCARE

The needs of National Database for Diabetes diseases in the country was present for quite some time, however, mainly because of the luck of funding, the project was postponed. As some pharmaceutical vendors showed interest for partial funding, GORD Systems decided to participate the project as a software developer, partially also as a sponsor. The project integrates the data for the adults and children, and ensures continuation in the patient data update, regardless of the patient age.

Smart Cards (chip cards) can be used for identifying, storing and retrieving most important patient data.

The Database is installed on a central Server which is accessible locally and remotely. Data entry module ensures secure and correct input of the patient data, while many reports and queries enable the users to perform various statistical data analyses.

The Server and several local users are installed on the Institute for Endocrinology (Clinical Centre Skopje), while, additional 35 remote users (diabetes outpatient units from different cities) update the central database remotely.

Based on ORACLE Database/Development tools. Remote clients are based on Oracle Lite database for maintenance of local data, as well as synchronization with the central Database. The System can be used as Internet/Intranet or Client/Server solution.

CALCOR

The solution covers the processes in a cardio-vascular lab. It includes Patient registration, Admission in the operating theatre, Appointment scheduling, Diagnoses, Interventions, Medications and materials used for the therapy. Data entry modules ensure secure and correct input of the patient data, while many reports and queries enable the users to perform various statistical data analyses.

The solution consists of two parts: database and statistical data analyses module, and the second one, application modules for support of the diagnostics and working procedures that are performed in a modern cardiovascular laboratory (outpatient).

Smart Cards (chip cards) can be used for identifying, storing and retrieving most important patient data.

The Calcor application can be used as a stand alone System or Server based system. The systems can be accessed remotely from other locations for database update (other hospitals, private practices) and also can communicate to other databases (local or regional hospitals, other central databases).

The System can work as a stand alone, Client/Server or Internet/Intranet solution. Implemented on the Institute for Cardiovascular diseases, Clinic Center - Skopje.

Consultant Practice, Private Medical Practices in UK

Originally, the package is developed for medical consultant practices in UK; however it could be easily adapted to any other Healthcare system.

It is a comprehensive solution that integrates modules like: Patient registration (personal data), Medical data entry (including hospital admission details), versatile Searching module, Appointment scheduling, Correspondence module (tel. calls, letters, etc.) and Financial data (billing, income, expenses).

Smart Cards (chip cards) can be used for identifying, storing and retrieving most important patient data.

The package can be used as a stand alone System or Server based system (in case of several practitioners, or private hospitals).

The systems can be accessed remotely from other location (home, patient home), but also can exchange data with other systems, like regional hospital’s IS.

Data entry module ensures secure and correct input of the patient data, while many reports and queries enable the users to perform various data analyses. Many template letters are available to the user for easy correspondence. Letters can be also stored in the database and retrieved anytime.

The System can be used as a stand alone, Client/Server or Internet/Intranet solution.

OpPro -Operation procedures

The Module OpPro is developed for hospitals in UK. The application provides all diagnostics and procedures, which performs in the surgery. The software covers following processes: patient registration, admission in the Operation Theater, diagnostics, interventions, medications, used materials and statistic analyses.

Based on Oracle RDBMS /Development Tools.

Surgical IS, Clinical Logic/NGH, UK

The solution covers the business processes and workflow in a surgical department of a large regional hospital, including patient registration, scheduling and waiting lists, admission in the Operation Theater, diagnostics, interventions, medications, used materials and statistic analyses. The ambition of the project is to continue with further development of the others sub-systems (Pharmacy, X-Ray and other hospital departments).

The project started as a joint venture between GORD Systems-Skopje and Clinical Logic-Northampton, UK.
